About Me

A Journey of healing, discovery, and whole-food living.

My journey into whole-food plant-based (WFPB) living began long before I ever made the full transformation myself. I spent 7 years working as a cardiovascular nurse on a progressive care floor, caring for patients living with advanced heart disease. During that time, I met cardiologist Dr. Joel Kahn, and that connection opened the door to a new world of prevention and healing. His passion for lifestyle medicine nudged me into what became a deep dive into the science of reversal.

I began reading everything I could get my hands on, including Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn's groundbreaking book How to Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease. Day after day at work, I saw the impact of poor lifestyle habits - at the same time, I saw the hope and possibility on the research I was uncovering.

In 2015, I moved to the cardiac catheterization lab, where I witnessed my first real-life proof. A patient came in with recurrent angina. Several years earlier, his right coronary artery (RCA) had been 65% blocked - below the threshold for angioplasty - so he turned to a WFPB lifestyle. Now, almost a decade later, his angiogram showed improvement. I could not quit thinking about Dr. Esselstyn's famous photo in his book with visible changes in the Left Anterior Descending (LAD). When he asked his doctor whether his diet might be the reason, the doctor told him no. But I knew differently. This was the moment everything "clicked". His diet helped clear out his vessel of harmful plaque that may have eventually caused a heart attack.

I didn't jump in all at once. First it was a meal here and there, then weekends, then gradually more and more. By the time I turned 40, I fully committed to a WFPB lifestyle - and I have never looked back.

I didn't begin this journey to reverse disease. I simply wanted to prevent it. As a nurse, I had seen enough suffering to know I wanted a different path. What surprised me were the unexpected benefits: My Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) disappeared, my energy skyrocketed, and I found a sharper sense of focus and clarity I didn't even realize I had been missing.

Today, I want others to understand what took me years of research and real-life experience to learn:

Diet and lifestyle are powerful tools! They are the foundation of long term health, and the most effective way to quiet chronic inflammation - the gateway to disease in nearly every health challenge we face.

My hope is that through UR Plant Story, I can help others discover and same sense of empowerment, prevention, and healing that changed the course of my own life.
